Toy Types and Their Intended Uses

Different toys have different intended uses and thus different terminology used to refer to them, which may be confusing to those who have not encountered this kind of terminology before. Here are some different toy categories, and what each are used for:

  • Insertables: also commonly referred to as dildos. These are toys designed to be inserted into the user.
  • Penetrables: also commonly referred to as strokers, fleshlights, or onaholes. These are toys designed to be penetrated by the user.
  • Minipens: also commonly referred to as mini-penetrables or transmasc-friendly penetrables/strokers/fleshlights/onaholes. These toys are usually the same as penetrables, but significantly smaller. They are still designed to be penetrated by the user, but the target audience is transmascs, certain intersex individuals, or even cisgender women. They are not suitable for use by perisex AMAB penises. Attempting to do so would be difficult and painful, and would likely damage the toy in the process.
  • Butt plugs: also commonly referred to as simply "plugs." These toys are designed to sit comfortably in the anus, with a flared base.
  • V-plugs: also commonly referred to as vaginal/vagina plugs. These toys are designed to sit comfortably in the vagina, without a flared base. This makes them unsafe to be used anally.
  • Squishies: These toys are collectables, stress balls, or fidget toys. They are not designed for any kind of sexual use.
  • Grinders: These are toys designed to be used as external stimulation. They are often designed to be used to stimulate the external vulva, but could also be used on the penis or anus of the user.
  • Eggs: also commonly referred to as kegel eggs. These are toys designed to be inserted into the vagina to be pushed out again to simulate laying an egg. As they have no flared base they are unsafe for any kind of anal use.
  • Ovipositor: These toys are much like an insertable, but with a large hollow tube down the shaft. They are designed to be inserted into the user to have eggs pushed through them, to simulate having eggs laid inside of the user. Silicone eggs may be used with ovipositors vaginally, but when used anally the eggs must be made of gelatin, which melts at body temperature.
  • Gags: also commonly referred to as ball gags. These toys are designed to be used orally, to "gag" the user so that they cannot speak. Often they are affixed to the users head so that they are unable to spit it out.
  • Wearables: also commonly referred to as sleeves or sheathes. These toys are similar to dildos or ovipositors, but they are designed to be worn around the penis and testicles to add girth, texture, or length. They can also be used to reduce stimulation during intercourse to prolong endurance or to simply change the aesthetic appearance of the penis.
  • C-rings: also commonly referred to as cockrings. These toys are designed to be worn around the base of the penis or the testicles or both. They help to keep blood in the erect penis to prolong erection. They can also be worn for aesthetic purposes.
  • Packers: these toys are designed for transmasculine or intersex individuals as a prosthetic penis, to alleviate gender dysphoria or inspire gender euphoria. Some packers, referred to as "STP" (stand to pee) packers, have a hollow tube down the shaft and are designed to help the user to more easily pee while standing up.

Saturn Sun Studio doesn't currently make every one of these toy types, but I would like to broaden our horizons eventually, so stay tuned!
